2009 STYSA Coaches Handbook Web Edition

Like the previous versions, the 2009 Issue of the STYSA Coaches Handbook is packed with articles about STYSA programs and competitions as well as timely and informative coaching articles designed for novice and experienced coaches alike.

The printed verison will be hitting the streets soon but is now also available on-line via the website by clicking on Coaching Education and then on STYSA Coaches Handbook 2009 link in the left navigation bar.

Coach License Update Procedure FAQs

With the Spring 2009 season just around the corner coaches and registrars are scrambling to make sure that the Affinity database has been updated with the necessary information so that their teams will meet all the coach licensing requirements. Although information regarding this process has been distributed to Association Registrars several times and has not changed from what was originally put out in November 2007, it would appear that the process details have not yet trickled down to everyone, especially coaches, assistant coaches and trainers.

So, to help make sure everyone knows what to do, we have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions related to how to update your coach license information to help you stay or get in compliance.

Coaching Education Is Key To Success

STYSA Rule 3.2.10: Registered Coach, states that “only registered, eligible coaches are permitted to participate in STYSA sanctioned events or games as coaches or assistant coaches.’ Any individual wishing to coach must registered with STYSA (Rule 3.1.2); eligible (Rule 3.1.3); and currently hold a license or certificate approved by the STYSA Director of Coaching or obtain one within one year of initial registration as a coach.

Coaching Education

The purpose of the modules and coaching licensing courses is to educate youth coaches, stimulate their interest in coaching, and promote youth soccer. Coaching courses are intended to provide information that will improve general knowledge of the game as well as coaching and teaching methodologies that will enhance the development of youth soccer players. All of the courses that STYSA offers can be taught in Spanish.

E Course Waivers Into The D Course Discontinued

South Texas will no longer offer a waiver from the E Course for admission into the D Course.
