Due to the closure of the City and County Parks this past weekend, the Western District Fall Championships have been rescheduled to next weekend, December 10-11, 2011. In order to reschedule games for next weekend, it is important that we confirm which teams will be available to participate. Please send an email to lindam@stxsoccer.org no later than 12 noon on Tuesday, December 6th with the following information:
- Team Name
- Competition Level
- Team Age
- Indicate whether your team will or will not participate on December 10-11th
STATE TOURNAMENT RESCHEDULE
As a result of the rescheduling of the Western District Games, the State Tournaments for Division 2 and Super 2 are being rescheduled to the rainout weekend of December 17-18. After the completion of the re-schedule of District Games and confirmation of which Eastern District Super 2 teams will be available to play on the rainout weekend, the State schedules will be revised and posted late next week.
We understand that parents are upset about the reschedule of the State Tournament to December 17-18. The third weekend in December (December 17-18) is the standard reschedule date for the State Tournament and has been included on the Perpetual Calendar for the past 20 years or more. We realize it is not a convenient time but it is the only date available for playing the State Tournament. A January reschedule is not possible as high school soccer gets underway immediately after the New Years holiday and many players will not be available to participate in January games.
For clarification purposes, this was not a matter of a rainout in Western District. It was a matter of the County and City Parks closing the facilities because of rain beginning on Friday. The fact that the District did not have access to fields resulted in the postponement of all Western District games. Had the parks not closed the games would have been played in whatever weather conditions existed.
State Tournaments will be played December 17-18. Please advise the State Office whether or not your team will participate.
We apologize for the inconvenience; however, the closure of the parks forced the postponement of the games to the designated reschedule weekend.
