The STYSA 2011 Summer Governing Board General Meeting Sunday morning wrapped up two days of meetings, workshops, coaching demonstrations, and vendor exhibits that was highlighted by the Annual Awards luncheon on Saturday.
Nestled in between a day long series of workshops and visits to the vendors in the Soccer Expo, the delegates took time to recognize the hard work and dedication of the people that make South Texas Youth Soccer tick at the Annual Awards Luncheon.
Tatiana Gavela and J B Makhani were selected as Youth Referees of the Year by their peers; Dean Luttrell was selected Scholar Athlete of the Year; Sarah Henrichs and Andrew Meador were named Coaches of the Year; and Barbara Busch was named Volunteer of the Year. Please join me in congratulating them for their efforts in advancing youth soccer in South Texas!
In the Western District meeting Saturday afternoon, Ron Davis was elected interim Western District Vice President to fill the remainder of the 2 year term vacated by the resignation of Pam Kasperitis.
On Sunday, the 80 Member Association delegates present began the meeting by approving the minutes of the Executive Committee meetings and the 2011 Winter Governing Board meeting and voting to return Big Bend Youth Soccer Association back to active status and good standing.
The delegates then turned their attention to voting on the merits of the 28 proposed rule changes submitted by the STYSA Member Associations and clubs. When the discussions, debates, and voting ended the member delegates voted to approve only 1 of the 28 proposed rule changes.
The Winter 2012 GBM will be held in Houston on February 24-26.
