Through the U.S. Soccer Coaching License Pathway, STX Youth Soccer is committed to providing all coaches, from beginner to advanced, with education tailored to their experiences and the needs of their players. The Coaching License Pathway consists of a series of courses designed to meet the specific needs of a coach every step of the way.
The U.S. Soccer Learning Center serves as the online educational platform where coaches can register for courses, take online classes, create session plans and more. It’s also your home for course announcements, registration, payment, assignments, communication and collaboration.

HOST A COACHING COURSE
Associations or clubs that wish to host a US Soccer Grassroots, D or C Course can request to do so by completing this course request form. Course hosts must meet the minimum requirements outlined here.
All South Texas Youth Soccer-hosted U.S. Soccer courses are set up and administered through U.S. Soccer’s Learning
COACHING EDUCATION
Whether you’re just getting started or have been coaching for awhile, there’s an online and in-person course that’s right for you.
Future coaches can begin their learning with the Grassroots Pathway and a free “Introduction to Grassroots Coaching” online course.
Coaches can advance on the Pathway from the Grassroots level all the way to Pro, with all the tools, guidance and mentorship a coach requires.
SCHOLARSHIPS
South Texas now offers Coach Education Scholarships to offer financial support for our members in underserved communities, to attend advanced coaching courses!
GRASSROOTS
The scholarship covers the full cost of the two (2) Grassroots courses.
Scholarship recipients must:
- Provide appropriate classroom and field resources for course facilitation
- Be a club/organization based in an underserved community (ex. Rio Grande Valley, South Texas Gulf Coast, West Texas)
D & C COURSES
*Before being accepted for a Scholarship, the candidate must be eligible for the desired D or C Course*
- D Course: At least two (2) grassroots in-person courses and one (1) online license.
- C Course: Must have held a U.S. Soccer D license for at least 6 months OR meet the waiver guidelines
The scholarship covers:
- 50% of the course registration fee
- Cost of travel up to $1000
Scholarship recipients must:
- Work in soccer in an underserved community (Rio Grand Valley, South Texas Gulf Coast, West Texas)
- Have a sponsoring club/organization match of 50% of the course registration fee
- Commit to serve a minimum of two seasons at their sponsoring club/organization
FROM GRASSROOTS AND BEYOND
Future coaches can begin their learning with the Grassroots Pathway and a free “Introduction to Grassroots Coaching” online course.
Intro in hand, you are free to choose any of the grassroots courses that meet your needs. Whether you are just getting started or coaching 11v11 there is an online and in-person course right for you.
To take the D course, you’ll need at least two (2) grassroots in-person courses and one (1) online license. After the D, one must have held a U.S. Soccer D license for at least 6 months OR meet the U.S. Soccer waiver guidelines. From there, entry to the pro pathway requires an application to each course and more robust prerequisites.
